About our J-1 Visa Programs

Since 1983, The French-American Chamber of Commerce-New York (FACC-NY) has been a proud US Department of State accredited J-1 visa sponsor for Interns and Trainees in the Exchange Visitor Program. As a J-1 visa sponsor, our mission is to advance the objectives of the Fulbright-Hays Act of 1961, which aims to strengthen mutual understanding between Americans and people of other countries by fostering international cooperation through educational and cultural exchange initiatives.

At the FACC-NY, we strive to empower young professionals worldwide, providing them the opportunity to excel in both their professional development and cultural enrichment. Following  their experience in the US,  J-1 visa Exchange Visitors are positioned to become the next generation of international business leaders.

We are happy to sponsor the J-1 visa for individuals interning or training in the following Occupational Categories:

  • Business, Commerce & Finance
  • The Sciences & Engineering
  • Information, Media & Communications
  • Hospitality & Tourism
  • Public Administration & Law

J-1 Visa Candidates

For Foreign Nationals Coming to the US on a J-1 visa

The Exchange Visitor J-1 visa is a non-immigrant visa category for foreign nationals approved to participate in professional-based Intern and Trainee programs to gain exposure to  US business practices and American culture.

Exchange Visitors can come to the United States for up to 12 months as an Intern or up to 18 months as a Trainee to participate in full-time, paid, professional programs at companies across the US. Exchange Visitors are pivotal to the success of the J-1 visa program by offering new perspectives to the US business landscape and strengthening diplomatic relations between Americans and their home country.

J-1 Visa Host Companies

For Companies Looking to Host a J-1 Visa Exchange Visitor

For companies aiming to integrate international talent and perspective into their US business landscape or train individuals in the US branch of their company, the J-1 visa program will prove to be an invaluable opportunity. Host Companies that welcome J-1 visa Interns or Trainees must provide the Exchange Visitor with guided work-based training, offer exposure to American business and culture, and ensure that the J-1 visa program is not used to substitute or displace American workers.

To host an Exchange Visitor, companies must adhere to certain structural requirements to ensure the Intern or Trainee is adequately supervised, in accordance with the mission of the Exchange Visitor Program. Acting as a J-1 visa sponsor, FACC-NY will verify the eligibility of each prospective Host Company during the J-1 visa application process.
