We are pleased to introduce our valued member, Oscar Blanchaer, Account Director at Orange Business.

Oscar began his career as a ski instructor in France, spending seven years on the slopes while exploring the world with a backpack each summer. That global perspective helped him build a dynamic international career in telecom, with roles across Europe, Hong Kong, and now New York at Orange Business. He’s passionate about technology, and outside of work, he recharges through skiing and freediving.

We invite you to get to know Oscar through the Q&A below, where he shares insights into the values that drive him, the experiences that have shaped him, and the purposeful work he’s doing.

Who is someone that has made a big impact on your life – personal or professional? Why?

My dad competed in the 1972 Winter Olympics and finished 7th in the combined event, which is downhill and slalom. Growing up, he shared his love for the mountains with me and taught me to always keep pushing, never give up, and—most importantly—stay humble and always be open to learning.

What has been your biggest professional achievement?

I closed a major deal with one of the biggest smartphone manufacturers in the world after several meetings in Seoul. I led our team there and quickly realized how important it was to understand and respect cultural differences. I arranged for a translator who spoke both Korean and English, which was really appreciated. And of course, bringing some Belgian chocolates helped break the ice! Six months later, they decided to sign the contract with me—a Belgian sales rep—which was an amazing experience.

What is the biggest career challenge you’ve had to overcome?

During the COVID-19 crisis, the global demand for telecom services was very high, and each day felt like an escalation mode. Thanks to my flexibility and experience, I was able to adapt quickly and build strong, lasting relationships with my customers during a critical time.

What do you love most about your job?

Every day brings something new, and the dynamic nature of my work—together with direct customer interaction and the company’s global footprint—keeps me energized and motivated.

What advice would you give to your younger self/someone just getting started in your industry?

Keep exploring and don’t be afraid to fail. Follow your intuition and do your job with passion

What methods do you use to stay motivated and focused?

I stay active by going to the gym and practicing boxing, which are ideal ways for me to manage stress and stay focused every day.
