Meet the Ambassador: Andrew Massat, Partner of Massat Consulting Group
Member news | February 18, 2020
We had the chance to speak with FACC Ambassador, Andrew Massat in this latest Meet The Ambassador feature. Andrew is a Partner of the family firm, Massat Consulting Group, where they guide foreign investors looking to set foot in the United States and Mexico, and understand local customs and ways of working.
Keep reading to learn about his philosophies behind Massat Consulting Group as well as his values behind being a FACC Ambassador and a leader.
FACC: How do you see Massat Consulting Group changing in the next two years, and how do you see yourself being a part of that change?
AM: Data and tools that harness this data are becoming a more strategic part of every business’s core processes. We see individual clients becoming a mere statistic to furthering a company’s bottom line (think GAFA). But these tools do not have to lead to such corporate behavior. At Massat Consulting Group, we have always integrated our clients’ core values in tailoring our services to their needs. Data-driven tools are powerful assets that we wield intelligently. But it is understanding these core values of our clients that allow us to extract the most meaningful information for them. I see a growth opportunity at Massat Consulting Group to use tools as well as other tech-oriented firms while maintaining our personable approach to work which has been a defining characteristic of ours since our establishment in 1986. We have seen many competitors along the line, but few have been able to keep the familiar touch we do in client services.
FACC: Do you set aside specific times to cast vision to your employees and other leaders? If yes, what is your approach?
AM: My door is (almost) always open. My phone is always on. Beyond personal technical proficiency, I know that our inertia as leaders in our field depends on being able to convey messages clearly and efficiently whether it be to employees or other leaders. My approach? To ensure that my listener has grasped the key messages of the visions I share. Asking someone their thoughts on that message is a great sounding board on what were the key takeaways of our exchange.
FACC: What success habits do you foster in your day-to-day life as a leader?
AM: I get into work before 9 AM, greet everyone with a smile and ask if anyone has questions to start off the day. This is the best way to ensure you’re getting the pulse of your team on any given day.
FACC: Where does your passion for the French-American community come from in joining the FACC-NY both as an Ambassador and Member?
AM: Our values are well reflected in the FACC. Be on time, greet everyone with a smile and get people’s feedback is a strong suite that the FACC has always known how to maintain through real and meaningful interactions between members. In today’s day of digitalized communication, people forget how important it is to be able to tell a good story in person. I feel that the FACC hones in on this in their teams and makes sure their members always feel welcome.
FACC: What distinguishes you and other global consulting and CPA firms?
AM: We are a family firm and as such we understand the importance of a legacy. Bottom-line is an essential metric to every business. But being able to see beyond quarterly results requires a deeper understanding of business. We do our best to integrate sustainability into our consulting.
FACC: Has your FACC-NY membership allowed you to open doors in your career as well as for Massat Consulting Group?
Absolutely, the FACC-NY and the network of FACC’s in the US and abroad share strong bonds and respect for one another. The environment is conducive to openness and honesty, qualities that can be hard to come by in a world of fast-companies. The FACC-NY is a leader by example, and it is comforting to know I am part of an organization that does not lose sight of maintaining healthy business practices in growth.
