In this week's Meet the Member feature, we spoke with Dee Coffey, an experienced real estate professional in the FACC-NY network offering the full suite of Real Estate and Relocation services to NYC and its suburbs, including Westchester, Long Island, Connecticut and beyond.
Originally from Ireland, Dee is currently based in Westchester where she set up Totally Westchester as a go-to resource to demonstrate what a fabulous place it is to live in. For anyone looking to set up a home in a family-friendly environment with New York city within easy reach, Dee is a great connection to have within the community.
Keep reading to hear about Dee's business philosophy, the current New York State Real Estate market, and more...
FACC-NY: As an experienced Real Estate professional, what are four words that characterize your overall business philosophy? Please elaborate.
Understanding - I know what it was like to move to NY from overseas with a young family. A reassuring, knowledgeable resource would have been a huge help.
Knowledgeable - Unlike most other realtors, I cover all of lower Westchester and know the different towns and communities and what each has to offer. I am able to use this knowledge to help newcomers find the right location to fit their needs.
Professional - I have successfully negotiated and closed many real estate deals over the last 6 years, from short-term rentals to sales in the millions. I am there for my clients and will work tirelessly to ensure they get the best deal.
Fun - I am a people-person and many of my clients have become friends and stayed in touch. You are likely to spend a lot of time with your realtor, so it helps if you both get along with each other!
FACC-NY: What led you to work in the Real Estate industry?
I grew up in a real-estate family back in Ireland and my successful mum is my biggest role model! She likes to tell me, "It's all in the genes, and I don't mean Levis!"
FACC-NY: In the state of New York, what real estate markets are “hot” versus “cold” right now?
Westchester is definitely on fire! Many people who swore that they would only live in the city pre-pandemic, now understand the added-value of having more space at home and the great outdoors on your doorstep.
FACC-NY: What are the main challenges you face in your industry and how do you overcome them?
There are a lot of realtors out there, so it is a competitive market, but I believe that I have something unique and valuable to new arrivals from overseas, as an expat myself, who went through the whole process. I overcome this challenge through networking and meeting new people through great groups like FACC-NY.
FACC-NY: What encouraged you to join the FACC and what do you hope to gain from your membership in 2021?
I love networking and saw the FACC-NY as a great way to meet and connect with fellow Europeans in New York. Through FACC, in 2021, I hope to make some new friends, broaden my network and if I got a few clients along the way, that would be a welcome addition!
