On Thursday June 21st, 40 attendees gathered for a breakfast addressing Social Security for French Expats in the United States. Since July 1, 1988, the totalization agreement between France and the United States effectively eliminated dual coverage between the two systems, with additional specifications to the transfer of credits between the two. French citizens do not need to return to the U.S. in order to collect their benefits.
The presentation also addressed:
Social Security filing strategies
Social Security and taxes
Coordinating US Rules with French Rules
Age and benefit calculations
